At Evergreen Homes and Construction, our goal is to provide an opportunity to all First Nation, Metis and Inuit communities through partnerships, direct hire, joint ventures or working agreements. We believe that responsible business activity involves meaningful inclusion and a deep respect for Indigenous cultures and values.

Initiatives that focus on skill development through construction partnerships and apprenticeship programs are among some of the ways we demonstrate our commitment to the communities we work in.

Evergreen Homes and Construction is honored to be collaborating and partnering with First Nations on their traditional territories across the Yukon. We are committed to establishing and maintaining meaningful, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous groups and hope to keep working with our project partners. Currently we are working on projects with Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation. It is our belief that successful business relationships are fostered with respect, compassion, integrity and inclusion.

Our long-term vision includes working closely with Indigenous to identify business opportunities and strategies that support sustainable development. We strive to provide opportunities for the utilization of First Nations owned businesses, the recruitment and training of First Nations trade labor personnel and best use of First Nations subcontractor services. These partnerships also provide substantial long-term benefits to local First Nations communities through apprenticeship trade programs and collectively creating future opportunity for a long-term challenging career within the construction industry.

Each Indigenous partnership works to ensure Evergreen has long-term and mutually sustainable benefits to local Indigenous communities through its projects and services.

Kwanlin Dün First Nation

Evergreen Homes and Construction is honored to be collaborating and partnering with Kwanlin Dün First Nation for many projects in the last years. We hope that this partnership continues to build on its foundation and brings new projects and homes to Whitehorse.

606 Jarvis, Whitehorse

This four-plex residential development was built on a piece of settlement land belonging to the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and is being formally leased to the private sector under rules protected by the Yukon’s land titles office.

It’s the first such arrangement by any of the 11 Yukon First Nations with land claim agreements. Under the Yukon land claim agreements, First Nations are not allowed to sell or give away their settlement lands. They are permitted to lease them for commercial and residential purposes. This historic step unlocks economic potential and provides the First Nation with the tools required to manage its settlement land in a way to maximize the benefits for its citizens.
